Caritas Australia Video:  The Preferential Option for the Poor

Knitters Wanted: Wrapped with Love

In 2014 Mini Vinnies commenced at St. Finbarr’s. It was a group of 17 students from Years 4-6  committed to working for social justice in our school community. As a group, the students worked in a project called ‘Wrapped with Love’ where they learnt to knit squares and sew them together to make blankets for homeless people through the St. Vincent de Paul ‘Winter Appeal’. This year 2017 there are 40 students volunteering their time and skills.

We warmly invite parishioners, parents and grandparents to partner with us on a casual or ongoing basis to join this project by contacting the school office or emailing katejones@lism.catholic.edu.au to organise a ‘Working with Children Check’ and Mini Vinnie’s meeting times.
